So to reiterate… we are definitely finding some interesting tangents on the dream studies. Refer to this.
We talked about camera movements and mixing through software as means to transition to the different sleep phases, so we can clearly supplement our dream content. Examples would be slow panning to match the low frequency Delta waves during phase 4, etc. The possibilities for transitions are quite endless, including fading the video images, etc.
Onto another topic relating to content, I think I am going to try compile some image sequence of of black and white photography, but very high contrast. I will refine this a bit more soon, but I saw a good example of b+w image sequences during The Cult’s recent concert at Club Nokia and I think I can come up with something similar that will work for our surface.
On another note, Dead Can Dance have a music video for “The Carnival is Over” (1993) that is like a combination of the John Whitney videos in Jono’s post, mixed with some weird carnival imagery softly composited in a dream-like aesthetic. It’s a bit dated and unfortunately looks a little too Cirque-de-Soleil for my tastes, but there is some qualities worth taking into account.
That's it. What Next?
